About Us

Load IQ (formerly IBUCS LLC) is a University Startup Company founded in 2007 by researchers at the Desert Research Institute (DRI) in Reno, NV.  Initial funding for the Utility Accountant was sponsored by the DRI, the California Energy Commission Public Interest Energy Research, the State of Nevada Applied Research Initiative, and the Nevada Institute of Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC).

Our mission is to sell Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring Software and Systems for use in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.  Our Utility Accountant software incorporates patented algorithms that improve accuracy so users may make cost effective energy efficiency decisions.

In 2009, Load IQ was awarded an National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I grant to prove the feasibility of the Utility Accountant software in three homes.  The success of that project led to a phase II award in 2011 to build and test a system for use in small commercial setting where energy intensities and potential savings are greater.
